It was originally called The Commercial, and later the Polaris, and then Blazers. It is now named The Penny Gill. It sold in March 2007 and as of 6th July 2016 motorbikes and trikes lined the Centre of Spennymoor, in County Durham, to pay tribute to the pub landlord and provide a motorcade for his funeral cortege to Durham Crematorium.
