The Pennyweight is a traditional Darlington pub that was used as a communal baking shop, where locals in and around Darlington used to bring their home-made pies, cakes and pastries to be cooked in the old cellars of The Pennyweight.
Now the ovens within the cellars are no more, but the bakehouse is still utilized by the pub to serve customers.
